Firm pressure · Talbot Street
Slow, strong strokes that work into the layers under the surface — for the stiff back, tight neck and locked-up shoulders that a light massage never quite reaches.
The Treatment
Deep tissue massage is the firmest work we do. Instead of gliding over the skin, the therapist works slowly and deliberately into the deeper layers of muscle and the connective tissue around it, using forearms, thumbs and elbows as well as hands.
The pace is the thing that surprises most people. A relaxation massage flows; deep tissue stops and stays — holding pressure on one tight band of muscle until it lets go, then moving on. That is why a focused 30 minutes on a bad back can do more than an hour of light work.
With our Chinese therapists, that firm work draws on Tui Na — Chinese medical massage, which uses acupressure points along with thumb, forearm and elbow pressure to release a tight band of muscle. It is not a separate treatment on the price list; it is the technique behind the deep tissue session.
It should feel like strong, satisfying pressure — the "good sore" feeling. It should never feel like you are bracing against it. Our therapists check in as they go and adjust, because tensing up against too much pressure defeats the entire point.
Who It Suits
If you would rather switch off than be worked on, our relaxation massage is the gentler option.
Benefits
Everyone's body responds differently, but these are the changes our regulars in Dublin 1 tell us about most often.
Turning your head, reaching overhead or bending down feels less restricted once the surrounding muscle stops guarding.
The dull ache across the shoulders and lower back that builds up through a working week tends to ease off after a focused session.
Heavy, tight legs and shoulders feel looser, which makes getting back to training more comfortable.
A lot of head and jaw tightness traces back to the neck and upper shoulders — releasing those often takes the edge off.
You notice where you hold tension. Most people are shocked at how uneven their two shoulders are.
Strong bodywork leaves most people tired in the best way. An evening appointment before bed is popular for exactly this reason.
Massage is for comfort and relaxation, not a substitute for medical care. If you have an injury, a recent operation, or a health condition you are unsure about, please speak to your doctor first — and tell your therapist before the session starts.
Your Visit
First time having deep tissue work? Nothing here should be a surprise. This is exactly how a session at 94 Talbot Street runs.
You come up to the 2nd floor and are shown to a private treatment room. Walk in without booking, or ring ahead and we will have the room ready.
Before anything starts, the therapist asks where the problem is and how hard you want it. Point at the exact spot — this is the most useful thirty seconds of the whole appointment.
You undress to your comfort level in private and lie on the table under a towel. You stay covered throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered.
Warm oil, then broad warming strokes before the pressure builds. Once the muscle is ready the therapist works into the tight areas slowly. Say "lighter" or "harder" at any point — it is expected, not rude.
The last few minutes ease off with lighter strokes so you are not getting up cold. A hot shower is available on request.
Drink water and take it easy on the same muscles for a day. Feeling mildly tender the next morning is normal after deep work; sharp pain is not, so tell us if that happens.
Take the 30 minute session (€60) when one area is the problem — a neck, a shoulder, a lower back. All of the time goes exactly there.
Take the 90 minute deep tissue & relaxation session (€120) when tension is everywhere, or when you want the deep work followed by slower relaxation strokes to finish. It is the session most people book when they have been putting it off for months.
Durations & Prices
Payment: Cash and card accepted. Card payments carry a €3 processing fee added to the prices above. The price you see is the price you pay. The 90 minute session combines deep tissue work with relaxation massage.
Getting Here

Coming by bus, Busáras is the same short walk away, and the Luas Red Line stops at Connolly and Abbey Street. If you work around the IFSC, O'Connell Street or Amiens Street, we are close enough for a 30 minute treatment on a lunch break.
That makes us easy to reach from anywhere in Dublin — and easy to fit in before a train home. We are open 7 days, 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM, so late evening appointments after work are no problem.
